Goals of this Blog

Sleeping JasonLately I have been posting a lot about my personal struggles with finding figuring out who I am.  The last article being a week ago on what I want to do with my life.  I have been continuing to mull this idea over and I feel like I don’t have an answer, but I am closer.  This being said, I feel this means I need to rethink the purpose and goals of this blog.

Blogging to Make money

I would like to make money from this blog.  It isn’t that I want to rip anyone off or get rich off of my readers.  I would just like to make enough money that I could cover my modest expenses and focus my full attention on my art projects (including this blog).  There is no problem or moral objection to this frame of mind, but I feel it has been forcing me to write a specific type of article.

The Digital Arts Alchemist

Having followed Internet Business Blogs/podcasts for a few years now I see the potential for making money online, but my obsessive compulsive tendencies have forced me to seek out everything I can find and devour too much content.

From this, I subconsciously want to have an internet marketing blog like the ones that I personally follow and love.  Examples being Smart Passive Income, Internet Business Mastery, entrepreneurs-journey or my newest interest in preneur marketing.  I have been considering to niche down (target a smaller group of people) from these sites by focusing on Internet Marketing for Artists.  This is where the Digital Arts Alchemist came from.

Pushing Away from the Digital Arts Alchemist

Today I watched a video entitled: Occupation of Time

It made me realize I don’t want to be known as “the guy who taught others to make money online”.  Even if it is for artists.  I love, love, love teaching people and helping others succeed.  This was my philosophy for focusing my attention for the Jason Loves Life blog to be another money making blog.

Selfish Reasons

I have made the decision to be selfish with this blog.  i will still write articles about making money as an artist, niche sites, SEO, etc, but my focus for the blog will be to write about whatever I am working on.  It is an outlet, a journal, a place to share my personal artwork.

I look at blogs of artists I love such as Neil Gaiman, Nina Paley, Don Hertzfeldt, Bill Plympton, Jeff Smith, Alan Moore and others.  Those blogs don’t talk about Niche Site creation, SEO, etc.  They talk about what interests them at the moment of posting and because people enjoy their art they also enjoy visiting their blogs.  Many of them also use their blog to promote projects they are working on which I need to start doing.

The new Jason Loves Life Blog

I plan on finishing my Niche Site Journal and write about internet marketing, but I also want to do more on my Madman of Magic Comic Book, my artistic process, things I like on the internet, and more things around myself.

The Jason Loves Life blog is going to be about Jason Love’s Life.

Your Blog

Thanks for following my self indulgent rant.  As a prize for reading the entire thing I ask you to feel free to share a link to your website and include in one sentence what your blog is about.  WARNING!  Try not to make it look too much like spam because I get a lot spam comments and I have to delete those.
