A crazy week as usual.  It was hard to find the time to put in my 14 hours this week.  My wife is due any day, the comic book (Madman of Magic) my wife and I are working on, my laptop died, family is planning to come to see the baby, I signed a new contract for putting on animation workshops for the local schools, and …. Well that is all I remember… I can remember, but I did find 14 hours to work on the Niche Site.

WE MADE MONEY

Still in the Middle of my BackLinking Strategy

I have figured out that attempting a backlinking strategy for the first time is very time consuming.

This tool makes it a little easier (it is free):

Some Notes on article directories:

Boot with a plant inside

My friend loyal just finished his adventures Hike for Hope.  The point of posting this is not to promote his efforts (but feel free to help by visiting http://www.crowdrise.com/hfh2012), the point is to demonstrate good use of imagery for an amazing logo.  For me I use a 5 steps process to ensure that I am covering my basis with a proper logo design.

This is a case study for my early post on how to create a log with meaning.

The 5 steps are:

1)      Get into the mind of your customer:

I met loyal once before working on this logo for him and picked up several things about his personality just from chatting during coffee.  First, he was dressed in a “casual outdoors-man” .  He had on pants that were comfortable and could take wear.  The color was a light brown.  He wore a black t-shirt, but I can’t remember what was written on it.  He had a bit of stubble.

Taking in all this information I created a list of does and don’ts about his logo.

Do’s:

I have received a lot of questions surrounding my choices with Kickstarter and the Madman of Magic Comic Book project. I figure instead of answering the same questions over and over again, I will share them here for everyone to read.
If you have a question of your own, leave it in the comment section and I will answer them too.

Question

What do you think of Kickstarter?

Answer

Kickstarter is ideal for projects like mine.  My wife and I don’t have any way to raise funding for investing in this project or, at least in our case, not to cover all of it.  With Kickstarter we can pre-sell and see if people are interested in our work.  It turns out they are interested in our project and in a big way.

Question

Isn’t Kickstarter a scam?

Answer

I guess it depends on how you define scam or who’s projects you fund.  I am not sure what happens if a user doesn’t fulfill his backer’s rewards.  Maybe someone could have a project, collect the money, and run.  I am not sure, but the 3 projects I have funded all seem to be fulfilling their rewards

I am very excited for this to be my 100th BLOG post.  I figure to celebrate I would share information on my blog’s analytics, how many views I receive, and the source of my traffic.

Sleeping JasonLately I have been posting a lot about my personal struggles with finding figuring out who I am.  The last article being a week ago on what I want to do with my life.  I have been continuing to mull this idea over and I feel like I don’t have an answer, but I am closer.  This being said, I feel this means I need to rethink the purpose and goals of this blog.

Blogging to Make money

I would like to make money from this blog.  It isn’t that I want to rip anyone off or get rich off of my readers.  I would just like to make enough money that I could cover my modest expenses and focus my full attention on my art projects (including this blog).  There is no problem or moral objection to this frame of mind, but I feel it has been forcing me to write a specific type of article.

The Digital Arts Alchemist

Having followed Internet Business Blogs/podcasts for a few years now I see the potential for making money online, but my obsessive compulsive tendencies have forced me to seek out everything I can find and devour too much content.

From this, I subconsciously want to have an internet marketing blog like the ones that I personally

I am excited to see DC comic in Kindle, iTunes, and Nook market.  So much so that I have decided to do a post and a video.  I cover the same material in the video and the post, however,I get a little long winded and the editing gets a little weird, but if you would rather watch that I figure you can choose.

Are you ready to stop going to the comic book shop every Wednesday for your fix of  Justice LeagueBat Girl, Green Lantern. Besides the fact no one reads Bat Girl, you will soon be able to pick them up without leaving the house… Sweet, that means I never have take off my pajamas or put on real shoes.

DC Entertainment (the mother ship of DC Comics, Vertigo, and MAD) announced today it will be launching their entire line of comic books for download from the Kindle Store, iBookstore and NOOK.

DC Entertainment is the top comic book publisher in the United States and now the only comic book publisher to bring their full line up of comic book properties to the major e-book store platforms.

Why is DC Comics Now Available on Kindle, iTunes, Nook?

We are still puttering along with the niche site and the back linking strategy.  To be honest, I will be glad when it is all over.  I guess this is why everyone says choose something you love.  While I don’t mind doing articles on pregnancy and pregnant woman’s health, it is hard for me to get excited about it.

The only thing keeping me working on this niche site is:

  • I want to see if the strategies for niche sites work.
  • I enjoy learning about putting up niche sites.
  • I feel that my Jason Loves Life readers (you) hold me accountable to see this through to the end.

Find out “What’s my Ranking”

I did a search on YouTube fore “How to find google keyword ranking” and who’s video should appear?  That’s right, Pat Flynn from Smart Passive Income (the dude really is everywhere).
