Kickstarter Survey Results

Survey33 people took my survey back in June of 2014. Below is the data mixed together so that no one (not even me) can determine who’s answer came from which participant.

I will be talking about this data over the next few updates. Also, I am switching my Kickstarter update schedule to once a week but I can’t guarantee what day of the week that will be.

Question 6 – Questions about the product? (these are questions survey participants submitted)

  • Images?
  • Who is your intended audience? Educators? Students?
  • What are the sections that are being covered in this book?
  • What animation will be covered? Will this help anyone who may be advanced in one form of animation, but has no experience in another?
  • Probably your experience in animation.
  • What would be included? What will I be able to do at the end of the course? Price?
  • What information do you offer that the animators kit does not offer? Will your book show both the text and video examples to reinforcement of what you’re teaching?
  • Not so much a question as a suggestion, I have the iPad version of the animator’s survival kit and it has written text, videos, and sketches in it to illustrate animation principles if you create an eBook or an app I would suggest combining all of these forms plus possibly more to assist others’ education
  • I would like to see an example animation clip/video using your methods and equipment.
  • What is your fallback position if you don’t get fully funded?
  • Price
  • Is there a guarantee?
  • Examples/samples of included materials
  • I’d want to see some demos first. I’d also need to see some of your final projects in order to determine if you’ve truly got expertise in the field. Some people don’t know what they’re talking about.
  • How are you today?

Question 7 – How much would you be willing to pay for an eBook that can teach you how to animate?

  • The most expensive e-book I bought was Richard Williams’ Animation Survival Kit for iPad at around $40. The quality of the content is a motivator for me.
  • $10
  • $15-25 for a well laid out and planned book.
  • None
  • $15-20
  • Less than if it was a real tangible book.
  • Depends how many words/pages. Because this is interesting to me (I do a lot of pixels with my little girl), you could probably get me to pay more than an average person, but I think anything around the 20 dollar range is reasonable.
  • $25
  • I would prefer video coupled with an ebook and would be willing to pay between $30-$100 depending on the value of the content
  • $20
  • $0
  • I don’t buy ebooks
  • $9.00 – $15.00
  • $20
  • I probably wouldn’t buy it if it was just an ebook. If it had instructional videos that would seal the deal!
  • $10
  • $20
  • $5 – $10
  • $0-$70
  • $5
  • $5
  • $30
  • $20
  • $10

Question 8 – At what price would this eBook be too expensive?

  • For a beginners’ guide I think $6 would be a pain-point.
  • $50
  • $30+
  • None
  • Depends on the content.
  • $40
  • $20+
  • $50
  • $40
  • Over $100 is my threshold at this time.
  • $30
  • $.01
  • $40.00 for a physical book.

  • I don’t know. It depends on the quality of the course.
